Chieko Murasugi was born in Tokyo, educated in Canada in both visual science and art, and lived in San Francisco for twenty years before moving to North Carolina in 2012. She has painted for much of her life and her work explores the dualities of art and science, East and West, stability and flux. Murasugi maintains a full-time practice at Golden Belt Arts in Durham and her abstract paintings have been exhibited in CA, NY, and NC. She has two grown children and lives in Chapel Hill with her neuroscientist husband.
