TEXTILE WORKS

Addressing questions of history and identity in the Japanese diaspora, traditional kimonos and wall hangings are crafted with non-traditional materials and techniques, such as paint rags, cheesecloth and worn clothing machine and hand sewn, knitted, appliquéd and glued. The hexagon, a motif also used in other series, is an Asian symbol of longevity, and references the M-69 bombs dropped on Tokyo during WWII.
